A USA Today article in 2005 called "College football fumbles minority hiring," gives statistics on how college football has a lack of black head coaches. Only 5 out of the 115 D-1 college football teams have black head coaches. The article explains that the NFL is growing in number of black coaches because more are trying to be hied because they feel they have better chance then the NCAA. The reason is because top of the line unviversities follow what they call tradition and they pride they consitency, even in their sports programs and espically their head coaches. Some consider this on some count of racism because it is almost impossible for black male to become a head coach, but their is a bigger chance in the smaller market unviserities and even lower divisions. 






This article really gives a good reference and explains clearly and rough situation black cpahces are faced with to get better coaching jobs. This is on some count i think of racism, but its not intended. But it just proves not not everyone has the same chance as everyone which is stated in the consitituation.

IN "Racism of Sports" by Richard Lapchick, he goes into detail about certain academic programs that have shown how racism and segregation without them even knowing that they are, Geogretown made an national championship run in 2004, during the big east tournment and the national tournanmnt, their were signs that the Team was treating their differnet race players, diferently. People were noticing that the black students usually stayed in a different hotel for space issues, there were no space issues. Another example of racism that they brought up was how their are not enough black colleges in college football. They have a better percentage then the NFL of having black coaches but still do not have enough according to people.

The aricle i have found has gone into detail on how their is too much diversirt in sports teams in highly white unviserities. Top notch schools are mentioned such as ASU, CU Boulder, BYU and other division one colleges are being critized for the llopsided population. But this comes down to sports where the football, soccer, baseball, basketball, and hockey teams have little or no diversirty in race. In football their isnt the biggest issue but in the other sports. It is coming to a concern to the adminstrative and staff, and the NCAA.

The New Plantation examines the controversial relationship between predominantly White NCAA Division I Institutions (PWI's) and black athletes, utilizing an internal colonial model. It provides a much-needed in-depth analysis to fully comprehend the magnitude of the forces at work that impact black athletes' experiences at PWI's. Hawkins provides a conceptual framework for understanding the structural arrangements of PWI's and how they present challenges to Black athletes' academic success; yet, challenges some have overcome

and gone on to successful careers, while many have succumbed to these prevailing structural arrangements and have not benefited accordingly. The work is a call for academic reform, collective accountability from the communities that bear the burden of nurturing this athletic talent and the institutions that benefit from it, and collective consciousness to the Black male athletes that make of the largest percentage of athletes who generate the most revenue for the NCAA and its member institutions. Its hope is to promote a balanced exchange in the athletic services rendered and the educational services received.
